The Charitable Gifts Act and the Charities Accounting Act were reviewed and found in need of amending by the Ontario Law Reform Commission in 1976 and again in 1996, but no action was taken. Many in the legal community and the sector had all but given up hoping for changes. read more »
CCVO's Response to CRA's Proposed Policy on Fundraising by Charities Consultation
As we have reported over the past few months, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is undertaking a consultation on a proposed policy for fundraising by charities. The full document and supplementary materials can be found on CRA's website.
CCVO has a number of concerns with the proposed policy and has submitted a response to CRA. In addition, earlier this month, CCVO, along with a number of other charities met with CRA representatives to discuss the proposed policy. read more »
