Join the Network!

The name of your organization.

You can enter the website of your organization if you'd like a link to it on your listing.

Is your organization an umbrella organization (e.g. a network or coalition of nonprofits)?

The Ontario Nonprofit Network (ONN) has been speaking out on a number of issues of importance to the nonprofit sector and today we'd like to invite you to join us as a Network Partner. There is no cost and you'll receive regular updates on the issues that matter most to nonprofits and charities.

Why is ONN important? Our sector has over 43,000 nonprofits/charities, employs 1 million people and yet, despite this, we have little influence with government. We need to reach out across sectors and build a network to share information, communicate easily, and mobilize when important issues arise. As a network of networks, ONN focuses on issues that impact our organizations and the sector as a whole. We build communication and coordination between nonprofits in Ontario and, in our first year, we have made great strides. With your participation, we will create a vibrant, resilient and well-informed nonprofit sector across the province. We need your involvement and we are asking you to do 3 things:

  1. Join ONN as a Network Partner to receive regular updates about issues that affect the nonprofit sector and be recognized as supporting our goals. Membership is open to organizations and individuals and, as we mentioned, there is no cost.
  2. Help us expand our reach by forwarding our communications to your lists and inviting others to join as a Network Partner.
  3. Share information from your sector that you think might be relevant to the broader nonprofit community.

Here's what we've done over the past few months on your behalf:

  • Led the public benefit response to the provincial government's modernization of the Ontario Corporations Act, the legislation that governs all nonprofits, by advocating for province-wide community consultations; formed an Expert Working Group to assist the nonprofit sector in responding to the Corporations Act; and produced a range of briefs and resource documents to support the field communicating to government the real challenges of our sector;
  • Gave nonprofits new ideas for financing and structuring by producing three original resource documents;
  • Fostered cross-sector dialogue through our "State of the Nonprofit Sector" event;
  • Formed action groups on social enterprise, leadership, and on social financing to be able to promote key strategies to decision-makers;
  • Protected the interests of small and medium sized nonprofits by actively responding to, and preparing a sector brief on, the Canada Revenue Agency Fundraising Guidelines;
  • Advocated to ministers, deputy ministers, and many other decision-makers about the need to consider the interests of our sector;
  • Developed a growing mailing list to connect us and created an emerging ONN website to share the sector's growing number of resources;
  • And much, much more!!
