Last week Tonya Surman, ONN's co-chair and ED of the Centre for Social Innovation, received news that she was chosen as an Ashoka Fellow! Ashoka is the leading global organization dedicated to social entrepreneurship. Each year, Ashoka (http://www.ashoka.org/) undertakes a rigorous review and selection process to identify a select number of social entrepreneurs who belong as part of its global Fellowship. Tonya is just the 20th Canadian to be awarded this honour.
Ashoka describes its Fellows as “leading social entrepreneurs who we recognize to have innovative solutions to social problems and the potential to change patterns across society. They demonstrate unrivaled commitment to bold new ideas and prove that compassion, creativity, and collaboration are tremendous forces for change.”
Congratulations Tonya!
